Choice International Shade (CI Shade) - the Gulf Region's leading experts in high-quality tensile and structural shading solutions. Based in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.
Tensile membrane structures Dammam refers to engineered fabric roofs and canopies designed specifically for the Eastern Province environment. These are pre-fabricated membrane roofs — PVDF, PVC or HDPE — tensioned over a structural steel frame to create long-span covers with minimal columns. Architects, contractors and facility managers use them for carparks, walkways, pools and stadiums because they deliver shade, reduced heat gain and a distinctive architectural profile.
CI Shade has supplied and installed tensile membrane systems across Saudi Arabia and Bahrain for over 23 years. We combine Gulf-stamped engineering calculations, ISO processes and on-site installation teams to deliver projects that meet Aramco and local municipality requirements.
The short answer: they solve climatic and functional problems efficiently. Tensile membrane structures in Dammam reduce solar load, resist aggressive UV and shed sand during storms while using far less steel than traditional roofing. CI Shade engineers each structure with Gulf wind ratings in mind, typically addressing designs between 120–175 kph depending on site conditions and client specifications.
We specify membranes with high UV stability and low thermal conductivity. PVDF-coated PVC and high-density HDPE are common choices — PVDF offers a self-cleaning finish and long service life, HDPE works well for privacy fencing and pergola screens. Frames are hot-dip galvanised or epoxy-coated steel with bolted baseplates designed to resist coastal corrosion. The result is a canopy that stays functional and presentable years longer than ad-hoc solutions.
CI Shade uses CAD and SolidWorks for patterning and structural analysis. We produce stamped engineering calculations suitable for municipal submission and fast-track procurement. Patterning is done off-site in our 8,000 m² production facility so panels arrive ready to tension; that reduces site hours and cuts exposure to variable weather during installation.
Tensile membrane systems are flexible — architects use them to solve shading, wayfinding and aesthetic challenges simultaneously.
We deliver stamped calculations for wind and seismic loads and can provide designs covering 120–175 kph wind ratings depending on project scope. That paperwork matters at tender stage and keeps approvals moving.
With an 8,000 m² production facility and trained installation crews in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, CI Shade controls quality from cutting to tensioning. Off-site fabrication reduces site hours and helps keep projects on schedule.
We work with PVDF-coated PVC, plain PVC, HDPE and specialist fluoropolymer membranes like PTFE or ETFE where the project requires. Steelwork is specified to client standards — typically S355 graded sections with hot-dip galvanising or zinc primer plus epoxy top-coat for coastal exposure. The typical process is: site survey, conceptual design, structural analysis, shop drawings and patterning, off-site fabrication, bolted frame erection and membrane tensioning. Every project includes a pre-handover inspection and tension-check report.
Membrane lifespans vary by material and exposure. PVDF-coated PVC often performs for 15–20 years with periodic cleaning; HDPE will outperform in high-sand, low-crease applications. CI Shade offers scheduled maintenance packages: tension inspections, seam checks and coating touch-ups. Warranties and maintenance terms are clarified at tender — it costs more upfront to specify premium coatings, but the maintenance savings over a decade justify the decision in many Gulf projects.
