Choice International Shade (CI Shade) - the Gulf Region's leading experts in high-quality tensile and structural shading solutions. Based in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.
Tensile membrane structures Al Khobar are lightweight fabric canopies tensioned over a steel frame to create shaded, ventilated spaces tailored for Gulf conditions. Architects, contractors and facility managers specify them for car parks, walkways, sports facilities and hospitality areas because they reduce solar gain while keeping spaces open and usable. The primary benefit is a high strength-to-weight ratio: large spans, minimal columns, and predictable structural behaviour under wind and sun.
CI Shade handles these systems end-to-end across Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. With 23+ years of experience, ISO certification and Aramco approval, we deliver Gulf-stamped calculations, detailed shop drawings and factory-finished membrane panels from our 8,000 m² production facility.
You choose tensile membrane structures for predictable performance in harsh climates, design flexibility and faster delivery than many conventional roofs. CI Shade specifies PVDF/PVC membranes and engineered steel frameworks so the shade not only looks clean but performs: UV-stable finishes, controlled drainage and engineered pre-stress eliminate sagging and reduce maintenance.
The Gulf throws two problems at any canopy: intense UV and sudden high winds during storms. Our structures are engineered to GCC practice with wind load checks in the 120–175 kph range where project requirements call for it. That means tension profiles, anchorage and plate design are verified with stamped calculations suitable for local authorities and main contractors.
CI Shade uses CAD and SolidWorks for form-finding and patterning, producing accurate CNC-ready templates for every membrane panel. We produce stamped engineering calculations, construction drawings and value-engineered options so clients can balance upfront cost with lifecycle performance. We collaborate with architects early to preserve their aesthetic intent without compromising structural safety.
Tensile membrane structures are widely adaptable. They serve as architectural statements and as practical shade solutions across public and private sectors.
We deliver stamped calculations compatible with local municipal and client requirements, and our drawings include plate schedules, anchor details and membrane panel templates ready for fabrication. That reduces surprises on site.
Production happens in our 8,000 m² off-site facility using CNC cutting and controlled welding. CI Shade is ISO-certified and Aramco-approved, which matters when projects require contractor pre-qualification.
We work with PVDF-coated PVC, PVDF membranes, HDPE knitted shade fabric, acrylic and specialty membranes such as ETFE and PTFE where the design demands translucency or extreme durability. The structure is a hot-dip galvanised steel frame with bolted connections; secondary coatings or paint systems are specified per project aesthetic and corrosivity class. Shop fabrication, membrane patterning and trial erection procedures minimise site work and improve quality control.
PVDF-coated membranes typically deliver 15–20 years of visual and functional service under Gulf sun when installed and tensioned correctly. Routine maintenance is straightforward: periodic inspections, washing where sand and dust accumulate, and checking anchor bolts and tensioning turnbuckles after major storms. CI Shade provides maintenance schedules and warranty support as part of our service packages.
