Choice International Shade (CI Shade) - the Gulf Region's leading experts in high-quality tensile and structural shading solutions. Based in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.
PTFE tensile structures are membrane systems where PTFE-coated fabrics are tensioned over a steel frame to create a roof or canopy. Architects, contractors and facility managers use them for large-span roofing, covered walkways and atriums because the membrane is light yet dimensionally stable. On projects across Saudi Arabia and the Gulf the primary concern is performance under intense UV, sand and high wind; that is exactly what PTFE membranes address.
CI Shade brings 23+ years of regional experience to PTFE projects, with Gulf-stamped engineering calculations and off-site manufacture from an 8,000 m² facility. We work across Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, hold ISO certification and Aramco approvals, and manage everything from concept CAD to handover and maintenance.
PTFE tensile structures combine long-span coverage with exceptional solar reflectivity and stain resistance. The material handles high temperatures and resists chemical degradation better than many PVC or acrylic alternatives, which makes it a preferred choice for exposed, iconic roofs and high-traffic public spaces. CI Shade supplies the engineering and site execution that the Gulf demands: stamped calculations, patterning, and bolted, pre-engineered steelwork ready for fast installation.
We design to survive sand, salt and intense UV. Structures are calculated to withstand 120–175 kph wind loads depending on project zoning, with correct drainage, tensioning and anchorage to prevent ponding. PTFE membranes reflect a large portion of solar radiation, reducing envelope heat gain while remaining dimensionally stable under thermal cycling.
CI Shade engineers every PTFE tensile canopy using CAD and SolidWorks, then produces detailed shop drawings and fabric patterning. We run finite-element form-finding and provide Gulf-stamped calculations so the structural engineer and client see exactly how loads transfer to foundations. That means fewer surprises on site and a smoother approval process with local authorities and clients.
PTFE tensile systems work where durability, daylighting control and architectural expression are required. Typical deployments include:
We deliver stamped calculations for 120–175 kph wind zones and full construction documents. That includes load paths, anchor design and a complete fabrication package so local contractors can install with confidence.
Our production facility handles membrane cutting, PTFE welding, pre-painting of steel and assembly of complex sub-frames. Off-site work reduces on-site labour, improves quality control and shortens programme time.
PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) membranes are typically glass-fibre fabrics coated with PTFE to provide high-temperature tolerance, low surface energy and exceptional chemical resistance. CI Shade pairs PTFE with hot-dip galvanized and epoxy-primed steel frames; finishes are selected for coastal or desert exposure. We can also advise on alternative membranes—PVC, PVDF or ETFE—if budget, translucency or buildability steer the decision.
PTFE membranes require minimal maintenance compared with many fabric systems; surface dirt tends to shed and material aging is slow under UV. CI Shade offers scheduled inspections, seam checks and re-tensioning services as part of a maintenance programme. Warranty scope and service intervals are defined at contract stage so facility managers know lifecycle commitments up-front.
