Choice International Shade (CI Shade) - the Gulf Region's leading experts in high-quality tensile and structural shading solutions. Based in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.
PTFE shade structures are tensioned membrane canopies using polytetrafluoroethylene-coated fabrics to create long-span, low-maintenance roofs and shades. Architects, contractors and facility managers use PTFE where permanence, high light transmission and minimal maintenance matter — think covered courtyards, mosque forecourts, large walkways and transit shelters. For Makkah applications the ability to resist UV, thermal cycling and sand abrasion makes PTFE a logical choice.
CI Shade designs, engineers and installs PTFE shade structures across Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. We bring 23+ years of Gulf experience, Aramco-approved processes and an 8,000 m² production facility to every project, from concept sketches through stamped calculations and on-site handover.
PTFE membrane combines strength with translucency. The fabric keeps spaces shaded while permitting daylight, cuts radiant heat and requires far less cleaning than PVC in dusty, sandy climates. CI Shade pairs PTFE with pre-engineered steel frames and certified Gulf-stamped calculations to deliver canopies that perform under the region's harsh conditions.
We engineer PTFE shade structures to handle the specific load cases you get in western Saudi: sustained UV exposure, thermal expansion, sand abrasion and gusty wind events. CI Shade engineers design to 120–175 kph wind load ranges per client specification where required, and we detail connections to minimise membrane fatigue. The non-stick PTFE surface sheds dust and helps rainwater run off — a real benefit where maintenance access is limited.
Every PTFE canopy starts in CAD. We use SolidWorks for complex nodes, produce CNC-ready patterning for the membrane and prepare Gulf-stamped structural calculations and shop drawings. You get full construction documents and value-engineered options; we coordinate with architects and MEP teams to fit lighting, drainage and facade constraints. Short lead times are possible because we manufacture off-site at our 8,000 m² facility.
PTFE shade structures work where large spans and longevity are required. In Makkah, common uses include crowd circulation zones and shaded gathering areas where durability and low upkeep are priorities.
CI Shade prepares stamped calculations for Saudi projects and collaborates with local consultants to meet KSA code requirements. We model membrane form-finding, connection loads and secondary steel to ensure constructability and long-term performance.
All PTFE panels are cut and welded in our controlled facility. Quality checkpoints — dimensional control, weld integrity and finish inspections — reduce site rework. Our ISO certification and Aramco approvals back that process.
CI Shade installs PTFE-coated glass fibre or PTFE-coated fiberglass fabrics chosen for high tensile strength, UV stability and fire performance. Steel frames are supplied in S275/BS EN 10025 grade or to client-specified equivalents, galvanised or epoxy-coated as required. Finish options include hot-dip galvanising, duplex systems and specified paint systems compatible with Saudi coastal environments.
PTFE membranes routinely last decades with periodic inspection; the surface resists staining and biological growth. We provide maintenance plans that include visual inspections, tension checks and scheduled washes to remove accumulated grit. Warranty terms depend on project scope and material selection, and CI Shade supports long-term service contracts for critical civic projects.
