We specify membrane systems—PVDF-coated PVC, PVDF membranes, HDPE and PTFE—based on reflectivity, service life and maintenance expectations. The result is a tailored canopy that controls heat, resists UV degradation and stands up to 120–175 kph wind-load criteria when required.
Sun, salt and sand are relentless. We favour PVDF membrane with high UV reflectivity and a self-cleaning surface where long-term appearance matters; expected service life ranges depend on usage and exposure but PVDF membranes commonly offer 15–20 years of durable performance. Structural steel is hot-dip galvanised and can receive polyester or fluoropolymer coatings for additional corrosion resistance.
Design begins in CAD and SolidWorks with full fabric patterning and 3D form-finding where necessary. CI Shade produces Gulf-stamped calculations, shop drawings and cutting patterns so the membrane and frame interface precisely. We collaborate early with architects and MEP teams to resolve penetrations, drainage and lighting integration — that avoids on-site surprises.
These structures are versatile. We deliver everything from single-span walkway canopies to large-span carpark roofs and multi-tensile stadium covers.
All structural calculations and load cases are prepared in-house and stamped for Saudi projects. We design for local wind codes (120–175 kph), ensure appropriate connection detailing and supply construction documents suitable for tender and permit submission.
Our 8,000 m² production facility handles large membrane cutting, welding and steel prefabrication. Off-site manufacture minimises site hours and improves quality control — welds, seams and coatings are inspected before shipment.
Material selection is performance-led. PVC and PVDF-coated PVC membranes suit most commercial shading, offering a balance of translucency, tensile strength and flame retardance. For high-end architectural canopies or where extreme chemical resistance is required, PTFE or ETFE may be specified. Steel sections are typically S275 or equivalent, hot-dip galvanised; connection plates are detailed to avoid stress concentrations and to facilitate future maintenance.
Membrane maintenance is straightforward: periodic washing to remove dust and salt, inspection of seams and tensioning, and touch-up of protective coatings on steel. CI Shade offers scheduled maintenance programmes and warranty support aligned with the membrane manufacturer's terms. That costs more upfront than a temporary shade sail — but the life-cycle cost over a decade often favours engineered membrane systems.
